I am sure you know this, but depression is not a one size fits all issue (no mental health issue really is) and the way it manifests and how it is dealt with is different for different people. Isn't it possible, given that she's been writing since, that maybe those particular works or something in them tie in to her depression and she doesn't want to tackle the last book until she is sure she can handle anything that might come up?
