If lipstick makes you feel worse about yourself, don't use it? It's not like it's obligatory.

da- i always wonder about comments like this. like did you, genuinely, in your heart, convince yourself that "not wearing lipstick" is something that did not occur to this person? do you believe that they actually think it is "obligatory"? it's such a fascinating way of thinking, to be convinced that this very obvious and simple statement never crossed their mind.

da - I always wonder about comments like this. Why is it a bad thing to point out that there's an easy solution to something, especially a non-existent problem? It such a fascinating way of thinking, to be convinced that options other than A should never be said aloud.

da but nayrt

Because even if OP doesn't wear lipstick, they'll still be self-conscious of the color of their teeth, which is what bothers them. Just telling someone not to wear lipstick, while well-meaning, isn't necessarily helpful. Especially when some have apparently decided it's a "non-existent problem." It isn't non-existent to OP, so remember that.

1) It's because when you give advice to people who didn't ask for it, it makes you sound douchey and

2) When the advice is super supppppppppper obvious it makes you sound like you've got a superiority complex because you've assumed nobody else has ever thought of your easy solution.

nayrt but duuuuuuude this is one of my huge pet peeves - the combination of:

1) Nobody asked me for my advice or even presented their remark as a problem that needs solving but I'm going to give them my .02 anyway.

2) A ha! I see a really obvious solution to the problem I wasn't asked to solve and clearly nobody has ever thought of this really obvious solution except for myself, so I'd better tell everyone about my really obvious solution!
