Yes, she "finally had the guts" to staunchly and vocally align herself with the left and against the right...more than 20 months ago. She's been doing so consistently ever since.

She's also expressed regret that she didn't speak up sooner, despite the many daunting reasons why she didn't.

This. Jayzus. I was going to say this. She spoke up in 2018 and then got mocked and raked over the coals because the opposition candidate won.

Yup. You could argue that she didn't start voicing her political/social opinions soon enough, but this is hardly new. I respect her for putting herself out there like that.

I don't listen to her music, but she has spoken out against white supremacy before, particularly after finding out she's basically an icon for them, through no fault of her own.
