I'm not aiming this specifically at Taylor Swift, but the whole American entertainment industry - holdout of people who traditionally support all humanitarian causes - have been very silent about Hong Kong and the travesty happening there. And that started before the current BLM marches.

Why? Because they want Chinese money.

So yes, I agree with illomend. Anywhere the money is is where the support would be from these people.

Or they're just straight up not aware of whatever's happening in Hong Kong (I don't even know what you're referring to) and are frankly way too maxed out by what's happening in their own country to split their focus again for another fucked up thing. But sure. That level of cynicism is not for me, nor is expecting celebs to address all the world's ills, but you do you.

American celebs started tweeting about HK last year. And then came the backlash from China. And then came the humiliating crawling apologies from those celebs.

And now silence.

Hmmm.

Well, there is a little coronavirus disease that caught everyone's attention instead.

HKers are focused more on Covid-19 and less on the protests, too.

Though now there's the national security law...
