109 - She's not... technically a Disney Princess (nor are Mulan or Pocahontas, which is why they tend to be featured less on Disney Princess goods than all the others). I mean, she didn't even marry the prince at the end. Having worked for Disney, I can tell you that the company doesn't regard her as a Princess, because the Princess Club keeps generating new stuff, and SHE'S NOT IN IT. The new "princess," Tiana, though? She will be, and more power to her for it (even if she doesn't end up being a "true" princess, either)! But I kinda like Giselle anyway.

133 - Er, GTFO fandom, then, whydon'tcha? If you don't like the content of your Flist, de-friend those people or communities. If you're sick of what you see, you have no one to blame but yourself. Your eyes aren't stuck open with paper clips, you know.

147 - Have you read "Twilight?" Because it IS possible to write a great fictional story without soapboxing/preaching, but Meyer didn't make the effort to do that. She infused her story with moral messages it didn't need and that didn't make sense. Mormons and non-Mormons alike have analyzed her stuff and found it chock full of references of the AUTHOR'S sense of right and wrong, versus an original world's set of moral codes. Personally, I don't think "Twilight" is bad because of Meyer's religion; I think it's bad because it's bad writing. The fact that she uses her religion as a springboard for elements in her story -Bella's characterization, the attitude of the Cullen family, the idea behind the Volturi, etc.- makes me sad (for fiction, for readers, for Mormons who don't want to be shoehorned into a stereotype like what Meyer [re]presents). Her religion didn't HAVE to come into play, but she BROUGHT it in. It's about as obvious as the red nose on Rudolph.

You can choose to be open with your religious beliefs and views, but that doesn't mean it MUST reflect in your story/stories. So write. Write your heart out. Just don't preach to me through your characters like Meyer did.
