I think it's really intimate and vulnerable, plus I guess altering someone's appearance can be... like... a big deal. It's hard to put into words!!

I absolutely agree with you on the intimacy and vulnerability aspect of it. And then in that particular scene, where just the very beginning and then the very end are shown, the reveal at the end where he's completely bald, is something else.

I think it tends to be hot if it's the person's partner or nemesis shaving them. Normally, head shaving is a bit too much for me, as it tends to represent a massive change, or a weakening of a character/this is how you hurt them (in my experience), so I tend to prefer facial hair shaving. It is very intimate, and depending on how it is portrayed -- whether it's a lover taking care of the other lover, or a power play that edges on teasing by two enemies (I have a blade to your neck and could let it slip).

The first head shaving I think of is the V for Vendetta one, and depending on what you're into and why, that can work.
