Re: Fashion! (Inspired by the QE secret)

I once made the mistake of going to a style consultant. She was exceptionally patronising and horrible - her answer to every outfit quandry was to wear a colourful scarf.

She told me I dressed as if I had no personality - which to be fair isn't necessarily untrue as I lived in jeans and a tee shirt at the time But it was a bit rich coming from a woman whose signature look was rich middle class white woman with colourful scarf accessory Every outfit of hers was tailored trousers, generic top, colourful scarf, expensive stylish handbag. Bleurgh.

The one thing I took away from that appointment was to never dress like her lol!

I did the same once, and had a much better experience. She told me what I could and couldn't wear and sorted out my colours, which has saved me a fuckton of time, money and effort.

The "no personality" comment was a totally unprofessional thing to say. Yes, jeans and t-shirt can be bland but so can plenty of other looks, including her own as you so rightly say. Sounds as though you took the right lesson away from her. I hope you've dressed exactly as you like ever since!

I'm glad your appointment was much more helpful!
