Yes and no. We made some big mistakes that actually made things worse for everyone. We unloaded a cruise ship full of sick people and let them go all over our country and back to theirs without any quarantine period. Sorry world!

We've done better than a lot of places, but the attitude is that now we can pat ourselves on the back for being good and things can go back to normal... but we still have community transmission and cases are going up, especially in VIC at the mo.

We don't do masks either. I don't know why, because we know they would help. We've just decided not to because it seems inconvenient.

I haven't been to Victoria in about 15 years, but back then there was a definite sense of "bad things happen to other countries, and if they do happen to here it's the foreigners' fault" when it came to world events. It seems that may not have changed as much as one would hope.

Yeah it's brought the racists out everywhere. Doesn't help that even here we have Trump on the news calling it Kung Flu and the like.

Melbourne itself has changed a bit. Less racist, but with more expensive food. Outer suburbs have changed less. It's still the 80s in Geelong, I swear.
