Also true: The teaching of Christianity are fundamentally oppositional to Western liberal ideals.
Also true: Not all people who call themselves Christians or Muslims uphold the aspects of their religious teachings that are fundamentally oppositional to Western liberal ideals.
Also true: Western liberal ideals are not without flaws of their own.

(Anonymous) 2020-06-29 01:42 am (UTC)(link)How can anyone determine which set of interpretations of a revealed religion are correct? What standard can one apply? The only consistent standard that could justify a particular interpretation of a revealed religion is religious faith. Unless you have religious faith in a particular interpretation of Christianity or Islam, I don't see how you can possibly conclude that one version of those religions is correct - how you can possibly say, for example, that Catholicism is a correct interpretation of Christianity and Methodism isn't. Any possible source of authority - for instance, adherence to scripture - ultimately relies on interpretation and is therefore ultimately grounded again in faith. Ultimately, any religious person can say that their particular interpretation is justified by revelation, and that's a justification that can only be argued on religious grounds.
