But then, Bones is more than just a fav, he's just a really specialy character to me. And it's weeeeiiird seeing him so young (I'm a little worried this'll almost be like one of those cheesy AU stories where they put everyone in a modern high school for the wacky antics that ensue). Definitely too young to be divorced (I mean, not really, but I always imagined it happened when he was older...)
Breathe, Laura, breathe...it's gonna be a fun movie. That's all your asking for...breeeeaaaathe..
(Although I am a little worried looking at your icon and suddenly realising how sexy he is. Let's me know how old I've gotten.)

The problem is that a lot of the actors in TOS had their own sort of flair, not just Kelley. I mean, even just seeing Kirk talk without that strange speech pattern in the trailer took some getting used to xD We've really only seen footage on Kirk and Spock though, I'm just hoping McCoy doesn't get pushed to the side. They were a damn awesome trio.
Of course, I've never even seen most of these guys act and at this point I don't know if I should be worrying about the actors or the script.
I know where you're coming from, though. I'm such a sucker for those highschool AU stories to be honest, but not for movies of course. And maybe with the marriage thing, with a younger McCoy it's more of just "mistake marriage" then say. . . "failed marriage"? If that makes any sense.
It's not that I need the movie to go perfectly with canon as long as it's a good movie that will maybe fix some people's misconceptions on Star Trek. I just really want everyone to get the right impression of every character, and the relationships between them. The characters (McCoy especially) are really part of why I like TOS so much in the first place.
(ahaha buddyyyy, I've been attracted to him since I first saw him! I haven't even mentioned it to my friends cause they'll probably be all creeped out. Cause, you know, kids my age are only supposed to be lusting after Zac Efron or someone like that. Not some oldish gruff doctor with massive bags under his eyes and a )

Word to the trio. I was stunned when I realised that everyone remembered Kirk and Spock, but no one outside of fans seemed to recall Bones McCoy. Without him, it wouldn't've worked. (I could never get into the other Star Trek's quite as much without the characters. TOS was like M*A*S*H--not a single character I didn't love.)
Mmm...I can see the "mistake marriage" I guess. I just always figured someone as grumpy and love-shy as McCoy was probably a result of a relationship gone very badly, but you're right. It doesn't have to fit perfect with canon (I mean, as a nerd, I will enjoy nitpicking all the wee little bits that don't, but hey, that's part of the fun). It just, for me, has to be a fun movie. (And they have to do a shout out where, for whatever flimsy reason they can think of, Kirk talks like Shatner.) If it winds up being fun, but not being Star Trek, then it's not so difficult to seperate the two mentally.
Lol. Well, I was ten when I first started watching, and hadn't quite figured out how to be attracted to older guys. I did, however, have my mental-Mary Sue, who was totally his best friend/protege who would follow him around and snark with him. Also, love the sparkles on the permanently raised eyebrow. Heh. TOS is the reason I learned to do that.

From what I've seen, more people recognize the name Scotty than McCoy. Even more people mix up Scotty and McCoy. I love Scotty and all, but come on you guys.
Well, what I meant by mistake marriage was that it might seem like he was just young and rushed into it sort of thing, as opposed to having one that just failed. I feel bad for whoever is gonna be seeing that movie with me, cause I'm probably going to end up being nitpicky (I'll try and keep it to myself though). I'm usually pretty forgiving with canon, though.
I'd love lots of those kinds of shout outs :D Even if the movie public doesn't really get it, it just makes a film more special, you know?
Ah, see, I didn't even see my first episode of Star Trek till I was 14, and I only started really watching this year. I never really did the Mary Sue thing, though (not for long, anyways, I stopped before I watched Star Trek). If I was bored and I thought a character was super duper I'd just imagine myself chillin with them :P
I wish I could raise own eyebrow at a time, but it's just impossible for me* D: It's a shame because I'm so amused by the mighty eyebrow duo of Spock & McCoy (seriously, Spock alone has maybe 500 different types of eyebrow raises).
*Not that I've practiced or anything. . .
