But...I like a few harem series(like Love Hina, Negima! and Ai Kora). I didn't even know the genre was disrespected :( Does that mean I've got bad taste?

I totally love some of the harem series! I think you could reasonably say that Ranma borders on a harem shounen, and it's epic. But I also love some real harem and reverse-harem, like Fushigi Yuugi (LOL OLD SKOOL~) and Love Hina (which I think had some downright amazing characters and storylines for a harem).

That said, I wouldn't say the genre is outright disrespected, but it isn't really respected either. And it certainly can't usually be said to be a great example of anime with non-generic character designs, or in most cases epic plot (though I actually do love the harem plots, SIGH).

I'm rather fond of Tenchi Muyo myself (and I find parts of Love Hina incredibly funny); it's just one of those genres that's mostly viewed as fluff without meaning, not to mention it often contains the most horrible stereotypes (for both men and women). It's also a genre that is full of series that pretty much only focus on feeding the audience's kinks.

It's not a genre wholly without merit, but finding the good parts is not a task for the beginner in the world of anime, I think... XD
