And Kid me was convinced that Van Fanel from Escaflowne was Heero Yui's (Gundam Wing) dad. The only part of the logic I remember was them both being anime about people in big robots/suits of armour fighting. (I didn't know the term Mecha at the time) and travel to another world is a thing in Escaflowne.

I'm sure that you had your logic and forgot.
Can you locate any of the essays you did on why you believed this?

I’m the OP of the original comment and I wish I still had them, but I think they must’ve been thrown out at some point when I moved. The only thing I can kinda remember is that Ruthie liked princesses and fairy tales and that somehow equaled magic, so she must’ve been Tomoyo and that had to make Kit Sakura. I also thought as a kid that Ruthie had a crush on Kit like Tomoyo had a crush on Sakura. Maybe I should reread the American Girl books to see if I remember anything else.

I love this secret, the manifestos sound like they were great. I don't know how you came up with that! I feel like I had similar theories as a kid, nothing as in-depth, but similarly off-the-wall stuff that felt totally plausible to me.
