I wouldn't have made this secret about the book, or the CBC mini series, so why respond to it as though I were talking about the book or the CBC mini series? Why respond critically to a secret as though you understand the context of the secret when you don't?

This comment, directed one quarter at you, and three quarters at the anon upthread who obviously doesn't know the show, and yet still saw fit to call me "rude and shallow."

But this specific thread was about the book. And in fact one of my problems with the series is that they got the characters wrong. When you are making a secret about an adaption, there is a good chance people are going to also talk about the original in your thread. You don't get to control what people talk about. This thread was about Gilbert and Anne's characters in the book.

The first person to comment wasn't saying anything about my secret; they were merely commenting on the book.

But then you and the other anon came in and proceeded to judge my secret (and my personal character) based on your knowledge of the book. If you can't see how that's both unkind and illogical, that's on you.

I don't think I said anything about your character, and if I didn't I'm sorry. That is rude. What you like says nothing about you, and you are free to make whatever secret you want. I don't like the show because I think it is a bad adaption of a book series that I grew up on and was really important to me through a particularly traumatic part of my childhood. So I get a little defensive of the series, so the show annoys me. But that's not about you and if anything I said ended up being a criticism of you I'm sorry.

I don't need to know the show to know that you saying a teen girl is too unattractive for her love interest is rude and shallow.
