The same can be said for English actors playing American roles. Maybe Hugh Laurie and Charlie Cox have pulled it off successfully? Like, not so much Benedict Cumberbatch and Ewan McGregor. You can almost see the panic in their eyes when there's an R coming up in a word and it suddenly occurs to them that it actually needs to be pronounced, and they hit it so hard they sound like a fucking pirate. "DoctaooooRRRRRRR" Strange indeed, Cumby, totes sound like a native.

It's true but I find it charming

Like Dominic West in The Wire

Paul Blackthorne does a very good American accent, too.

My personal favorite is Matthew Rhys, because he actually does a really good one most of the time, until he starts freaking out about something and then it goes completely out the window. So, on the Americans, you had a Welsh person pretending to be a Russian pretending to be an American. :D :D :D

rachel weisz and gemma arterton have done good jobs with american accents as well, though i've noticed with them and with charlie that their voices get significantly lower when they speak with one.
