Understandable but FWIW, I'm writing a shameful idfic right now that I'm not gonna post for that exact reason.

but honestly, I write fics like that ALL the time. The enjoyment I get from imagining and writing it, then reading it once I've forgotten the particularities of the plot is plenty of compensation.

I feel you, OP. 99% of what I read, I'm not embarrassed by, including a lot of kinky stuff. But I have a couple of very intense, very weird kinks that I am embarrassed by, and I always logout to kudos those fics and/or comment on them.
