I don't know about Sam, but Dean at least hates Ruby and always has; I can't see either of them caring particularly much what a demon goes through for them. Especially not a demon that's got so many points against her already.

The natural consequences of torture aren't going to be the same for a non-human character, anyway. And one instance of not really giving a damn about a demon from hell getting tortured doesn't mean the characters are all assholes.

LOL hypocrisy. Wasn't it made pretty clear that demons are just humans who have been in hell a while? So the torture of Dean is pretty much the same thing as the torture of Ruby.

A demon from hell who has essentially been Sam's Dean-replacement for months. And who got tortured, again, helping them. Yeah. I'm gonna go with asshole here.
