I can't even watch stuff with minor bullying in a lighter context like a cartoon show for kids or presented as comedic because I remember all the times I got bullied badly as a kid, which leads to cringing too much to finish watching it or getting over-emotional about it. I get ashamed a bit because I feel like I'm being over-sensitive, even though I know it's because it leads bad to an unpleasant time in my past.
I know that avoiding the source or at least talking myself through it if I absolutely had to watch something (only a problem when I was studying film studies at college) had helped, but ultimately there's no shame in knowing when to step back to take care of yourself - especially with media you're choosing to watch in your own leisure time.
