It's hard for me to view this show as a "cop show" in the typical sense, since it's focused on FBI profilers and not your average everyday cops.

But that being said, I do get the hesitation in general simply because of all the scrutiny over anything crime show related nowadays. And if one were to look back at the show, a lot of the same criticisms about other crime shows would likely definitely apply here, too.

Even then, though, I don't think you should feel bad about still having fond memories of the show itself. There was a lot to like about the show that wasn't tied to the job these people did. And if it brought you some fun memories with fandom and whatnot, that's worth cherishing, too :). Whether you ever do go back to watching the show or not, you can still treasure what made it so enjoyable to you.

the FBI also loves looking like heroes while doing war crimes

and "profiling is the work of geniuses and not a bunch of made up horseshit" is crucial copaganda

there's no such thing as ideologically pure media and OP shouldn't feel bad for their nostalgia, but let's not pretend "the FBI aren't reeeeeeaaal cops" is any kind of mitigating circumstance

ARYT

I agree with all of that! I just meant that the show focuses on a different branch of law enforcement, is all, so it's hard for me personally to view it as a cop show in the typical sense. I apologize if I didn't make that clear enough.

But no, yeah, you're right that there's certainly plenty to criticize about the FBI as an institution, too, and that this show is definitely guilty of trafficking in a lot of the same propaganda techniques that other shows of this ilk do.

It's absolutely a cop show. It's still propaganda for police as a whole.

Never meant to imply it wasn't. Was just talking about the difference in the area of law enforcement being portrayed compared to other cop shows, is all.

And you are NOT ALLOWED to enjoy it. Got that, OP?
