I get why some people might like them, but I rarely bother reading fics with fewer than four digits.

I get that any fic under 1000 words may not be for *you* and that is fine, but as i run a drabble com (slash_the_drabble on LJ), where the longest fic can be 500 words total ... i appreciate them. A lot.

I think that writing a drabble or ficlet can be much more challenging. But! Each to their own.

I get that. Hence why I said I get why some people might like them. Just like I get why some people like to read high fantasy, which I can't stand.

Agreed. As a writer, I find it much more challenging to write something short than something long, because you have to make every word count. It's much, much more difficult to get across everything you want to convey in a story when you have a strict word limit, and it forces you to really think about the words you're using and how you're using them.

I feel like it's made me a much better writer because I've learned how to stop padding my fic with useless fluff that doesn't actually contribute to the narrative.
