Re: What's your favorite AU setting?
(Anonymous) 2020-07-16 01:28 am (UTC)(link)I have a weakness for soulmate AUs even though I have issues with the general premise of them. Like, is there supposed to be a scientific theory of how it happens (HOW?), or is it straight up magic? If it does seem to be magic, what does that imply about AUs that otherwise have a real-world, non-fantasy setting? Do different cultures ever have conflicting interpretations of what a "soulmate" is? (Someday I'd like to write a fic where one side thinks their soulmate is their destined spouse and the other side thinks they're a soul-stealing demon who must be slain for the person to be whole again.)

(Anonymous) 2020-07-16 08:39 am (UTC)(link)The thing about soulmates is that there is so many to choose from. Soulmates don't even have to be good, romantic, or friends. You can have a rival soulmate. I'd have to know more specifically about what you're talking about than I do already to give specifics, (if you even want them), but Soul Mates are always workable in my books!
