(Anonymous) 2007-03-14 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)I mean, it's okay to talk to people about your RPs every once in a while if you're really excited, or if someone has shown interest in your SL, but doing it ALL THE FREAKING TIME to someone who CLEARLY does not enjoy it? Plz no. x_x

7. Hey, America? Do you guys have special Coca Cola adverts at christmas time too? With the convoy of trucks? People in the UK should know what I'm talking about.
But yes, I love coke commercials too. Heheh~

4. Fandom seems pretty worthless if you don't connect emotionally with the characters. I can't get interested in something if I don't feel anything for the characters.

1. A lot of people have crushed on me through fandom ... and it's weird.
3. Agreed. People like that make me twitchy.
6. I can't draw chibis. I fail. Lol.
7. Coke commercials make me happy.
10. Fanart is the reason I own a tablet PC. I built my whole laptop around the prospect of drawing fanart. Yes, I am pathetic but it's okay. I really love drawing fanart.
14. I used to keep my old journal locked because I could rant about fandom and no one I was ranting about could see it. But it just made me into a bitch, which is why my current journal is mostly just for creative stuff and 90% of it is unlocked.
15. If you don't cosplay, then you need to. We're all really nice about it most of the time, but I have to admit to privately snarking about how my costume will be better than someone elses.
16. Hehe. Story of my life ... as well as a lot of my friends. Mainly cosplayers.

5. A great place to start is looking up the stuff by Amber Williams. Her art site is Mab's Land (http://www.mabsland.com) and her webcomic is DMFA: Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures (http://www.missmab.com). Her stuff is a shining example of what kind of furs you'd be interested. The art is beautiful, every one of her characters are fun and she uses all kinds of animals.

Try copying or tracing to get the feel for it if you're a real beginner. Photos work better than stylized drawings like anime/manga art (it's easier to find your own style), but you can do whatever floats your boat. You'll be really surprised at how fast you improve by eyeballing; just don't use it as a crutch. Once you start feeling comfortable with the pencil, you should move on and start doing your own stuff no matter how much you think it sucks. No one learns if they stay in their comfort zone! You improve much faster if you challenge yourself constantly and do it a lot.
There are a lot of tutorials on Deviantart. If you haven't looked any up on there I really suggest it. I haven't found a lot that have helped me, but I know a lot of people who have learned tons from that site.
Anyway, I'm rambling again. :D;; In short, good luck to you! Don't give up.
12. One Piece's art style really turned me off the series when I first saw it. >_< But then everyone around me started ranting about how great the characters were, so I read a bit of the manga. I was really suprised, actually, because I ended up liking it. Just shows you can't judge something by how it looks.

I'm pretty guilty of HATING chibi art (Save for a few exceptions) myself.
It's the cheesy look that screams 'hee hee I am cute hee!'. Oh, I will make you eat your heehees, dear chibi.
