No horse in this race, but I really can't stand when characters are given noses like this. I saw an anime once where this character had no nose? And had some weird triangle nose replacement (imagine an eye-patch, but or your nose) and it really freaked me out/disturbed me. [t be honest, what disturbed me more was the implication of abuse of the character, but that's neither here nor there -- the whole anime was fucked up]. Oddly, when in an actual irl/humans on screen situation, this doesn't bother me. But drawings of that nature disturb me.

If it makes it any better for you, in this case the nose is a literal gemstone and not a stylized representation of a nose. The alien characters in the show all have a gem somewhere, and for some of them it replaces a feature, like an eye or a belly button, or a nose.
