I'd love to see a version of Sailor Moon where this is canon and confirmed in canon. With... Sailor Mother Moon getting involved in the adventures. Ideally long enough into the story that she can respect her daughter as a Warrior and they work together well.
Though I imagine what we'd have gotten in canon would be more of an "Ikuko is an overprotective mother and her arc is realising she's just getting in the way of her daughter and retiring from adventuring entirely."

I had the same thought when I was a kid! I even rationalized her lack of magical powers by thinking that she used them all up to make sure everyone gets reincarnated, so she wouldn’t have any when she reincarnated.

I really like them as ordinary people without powers, but I've always been a fan of the "Ikuko and Kenji are reincarnations of Princess Serenity's favorite nurses/babysitters/tutors, because the Queen knew they could be trusted to love and care for her daughter" headcanon.

Honestly, you raise an extremely good point here. I agree and fully accept this as fact. Hell most canon double identities comes from identical appearance so I think you might be right.
