At this point, I'd be surprised if GRRM finishes the series at all, never mind finishing it well.

+1. I haven't read the series (not a fan of grimdark), but as a writer, I do NOT buy the 'art takes time to make perfect' bullshit. A couple years, sure. Three or four, maybe. What is it now, ten? He has all the time and resources in the fucking world!

We MIGHT see Winds of Winter. If we do see Dream of Spring, it won't be the last book. He's got too many disparate plot threads to pull together in a satisfying conclusion to do it in two books--even ones that are doorstops--without some significant time skips, which he's already refused to do. And I think he knows it.

For other epic fantasy that is complete or written by an author with a track record of a book every 1-2 years, try Tad Williams or Brent Weeks. (I hated the last Wheel of Time book with a fiery passion and am totally uninterested in anything Brandon Sanderson has touched)
