118. I don't see why this needs to be a secret, considering studying an outfit is the best way to figure out just how to make it in the real world. I know that's how me and my friends do it.

131. God, I miss Due South. And yes, Fraser was pretty awesome.

137. People killed there? Yes. Haunted? No. It was never haunted. The people admitted it. We Long Islanders would appreciate people to realize this, and move on. Especially the man that lives there now. He's not too fond of tourists. It's a pretty house now, too. Renovated and everything.

It's so bizarre to me to think about this. I mean, that the people totally did admit it but it was after the book was huge so plenty of people will never know that. (Of course, there were plenty of things that could be disproven at the time, but still.) Still, the original murders are pretty intense.

What kind of stuff does the guy have to put up with? I admit if I ever went into the house I would probably be acting like a total dork on the inside to be in there even knowing there is no pig.

Yeah. Even after they admitted it, the book had taken on a life of its own. I'm not gonna lie. I read it myself, and it's a fun piece of horror. But I took it as it was, which was total fiction.

Honestly, nowadays the house just doesn't look like THE House anymore. When I was a little girl, it pretty much looked like it did in the movies and the books. However, they did some major outside renovations in the past few years. That creepy chimney/window combo that makes it look like the house is glaring at you? Gone.

The owner probably did this deliberately, because from what my aunt says (who lives near him), he's gotten a lot less traffic now that it looks so different, since some people just can't "find" the place. *lol* But, he does get the usual picture takers, and the pushier people who actually go up on his lawn and peak in his windows to take a look around. I guess some tourists don't realize that there's actual people living in it still. Or they don't care. But I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Aww. I admit I'm kind of disappointed to think that side of the house is gone--it was cool looking, I thought. I did go by the house once myself. I was in high school, I think, and we somehow got lost and wound up in Amityville late at night. We went by Ocean Avenue and somebody said, "Too bad we don't know the number." And of course I remembered it and we did wind up driving by. I remember there was a guy walking his dog and I knew these poor people must get people doing this all the damn time, driving down the street just because this house is there. But we didn't stop or anything at the house. *is still ashamed.*

I'm not surprised at all people pull stuff like that. I'm sure the feeling is always "When are we going to get another chance?" Unfortunately that means dozens of people getting their chance a month...

Yeah, the only thing that happened there is the murders. The rest is just crap they made up for money. No history of Satanism, no Indian tribes leaving old crazy people there to die. I don't think the paranormal works that way.
Didn't they even change the house number? I really need to read Stephen Kaplan's book again.
