...so people have no right to ship it?

If the fic's well written then what's the harm? Besides, I can see how the pairing would work. Arthur's confused by her straight-forward decentness and Gwen's a bit star struck and a bit scornful of his high and mighty prince-yness; and if Morgana (who they both love) goes off the deep end it's hardly an outlandish (or stupid or mindless) scenario in which they find solace with each other.

Seriously. I ship Gwen/Nimueh. I think they'd be hot, and fucked up - two things that generally get me shipping anyone. Am I stupid and mindless?

People CLEARLY have a right to ship whatever they want. Have a party, a field day, a happy OTP pile. Certainly no opinion of mine would stop them in any case.

I'm certainly unsure where you got the idea that I can't imagine how a fic of them could be written. There are countless ways. I don't need it explained to me. And goodness, clearly my strong opinion of them comes from somewhere, so umm, gag me some more.

Anyway. The stupid and mindless thing is to ship them and insist that they are "canon" because they usually are. I fully support your love of Gwen/Nimueh. I'd take some of that myself. I just agree with the OP when they suggest that shipping Gwen/Arthur just for the because they are married in Arthurian legends INSTEAD of shipping them based on character interaction or anything else really is kinda silly.

What the OP is saying in their secret is that they think that the ONLY reason people ship Gwen/Arthur is because they are canon in the legends. And I quote: "I can't understand how anyone could be excited about a ship of two practical strangers."

The OP didn't say anything about shipping them because of the legends versus shipping them because of the actual characters on the show. They simply dismissed, out of hand, the ENTIRE 'ship because they've only had a couple of scenes together in the entire series.

Which is ridiculous, because frankly, WAY more popular ships in other fandoms have been built out of WAY less.

I can't understand why the OP seems to think that just because Gwen and Arthur have barely interacted people who ship there are just being dumb and mindlessly following the legends. I ship everyone with everyone anyway but I ship Gwen/Arthur because I think they'd be cute, and because I can see how they would work on the show. Liking them or not on this incarnation has nothing to do with the legends for me and I suspect the same is true of the majority of other shippers for them in the fandom.

OP here--Just so you know, this secret mainly came before 1x10--when indeed you could begin to see the writers beginning to take them in the romantic direction, and when they had some serious moments together. I just didn't get around to creating it until 1x10 had already happened, but I still wanted to post it.....

Not true. As I say in the first line, it IS the idea of shipping them *only* because the legend says so that annoys me most of all--and I'm not saying that everyone does so (hence "I think that shipping them *because the legend says so* is stupid and mindless," rather than "I thinking shipping them period is stupid and mindless"), but there certainly are people who do (one of the taglines of "Camelot_Love" is "it's got to happen eventually, right?" from after only 4 episodes, for example). And I think it's stupid.

And yes, I don't generally see the excitement in shipping two complete strangers either, and I think I'm free to hold that opinion--if you do find it exciting, however, go for it! That part of the post is only how I feel about it. I guess there are two ideas in my post. But the thing that I find mindless and stupid, as I clearly state in the first sentence, is shipping them only because of the legend. I then add that other part that also baffles me personally.

Oh, I understood you perfectly, but I think next time you want to criticise a ship just because you don't understand the motivations of the people who ship it, you should make yourself clearer. You DIDN'T say 'if you ship this couple purely because of the legends, I think you're daft - if you like them for who they are then fair enough but doing it for the legends is dumb.' You DID say "I think shipping this when they've barely interacted just because the legends said so is stupid and mindless. I can't understand how anyone could be excited about a ship of two practical strangers." And thus you implied that those of us who DO ship them are doing so ONLY because of the legends and are stupid and mindless reguardless of our motivations anyway.

That might not be your opinion, but that is what your secret says.

Next time, maybe you'll learn to articulate yourself more clearly.

What if we ship them because we like the direction the writers have taken both of them and the dynamics presented that could be there? ;)

Although, to be fair, there are few pairings that I DON'T ship with this show.
