This said I'd prefer it stayed Ianto-centric, if only because the next episode "Adrift" is pretty Gwen-heavy and while I kinda like her (or at least don't hate her with the fire of a thousand suns) I find her very wearing to watch. Watching the series for the first time I gave up halfway through episode five (this said, the girlfriend forced me to watch CJH. And I'm thankful!) and caught up with the rest when we got the boxset.
From what I recall he relies on them all emotionally and professionally at some point. Well, except maybe Owen emotionally - more of that could have been interesting to see. I think the show tries to sell the idea that he relies on Gwen more than the rest, but I can't really buy that.
One of the reasons I prefer the second series over the first is because it has a much more ensemble feel to it. I don't think I'm going to bother with series three. They've lost their two best actors and I've never been particularly interested in the Gwen/Jack/Ianto dynamic.
