Re: Writing thread
(Anonymous) 2020-07-21 06:30 am (UTC)(link)That was the idea that got me thinking, since my whole daydreaming about a fic is entirely due to being so in love with and being inspired by the work.
When I continued to weigh the pros and cons, I only considered my own inspiration. Less about how it'd come across to the author. But when I read the anon's response above yours, I realized that the idea of someone writing little scenes they'd daydreamed about might fall short of the real thing.
Like, for instance, I know that I can get a little particular about how I perceive and understand different characters. So there's no real reason for the author not to feel slighted, if my interpretation of their character drastically differs from how they characterized them in their fic. Like I can see people gritting their teeth to be kind about now feeling the need to complement someone who obviously means well, but who can't write for shit, or who completely hits you in the berserk button by interpreting everything you wrote in a way you completely hate.
