FYI for future reference, a good DIY fruit fly trap is:

1 drop dishwashing liquid
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup water

in a disposable cup. Or you can cut the top off a water bottle, invert it and put the bait in the bottom. It attracts the fruit flies and the inverted top prevents them from easily flying off again.

ayrt

It's funny you say that, I was actually looking around for other stuff to do online hoping to get rid of them quicker, and had just finished putting together one of these with a little tupperware container (the closest thing I had to a disposable cup, it's really old and I was going to throw it out anyway) when I saw this. They keep flying around it and not going in but I'm hoping they will eventually!

It helps if you put it under a light source, the reflection off the water and soap suds seems to draw them closer.
