I think I've thought about certain side characters, but I've never done anything/bring them into the narrative like that. But I think it's cool! Side characters deserve love too!

I sometimes wonder about certain side characters -- because even if they are a tiny piece in a greater narrative, they have their own story too, we're just not being told it/focusing on it. In the very same way we are the side characters in other peoples' lives. So I think it's cool and sweet that you do this :)
