There's a really simple and truthful answer to the questions this commenter keeps asking.

"Is X going to be punished? Will Y get the therapy and support needed to get over his trauma?"

"no"

Then you lol and walk away

This is off-topic, but

This pic feels slightly like an optical illusion, hehe. Maybe it's just me though.

I posted dubcon I'd written not long ago and got the same kind of question, and I too found it odd. Like it's PWP so you can get off if you want to and it works for you, it's not that deep.

I like noncon/dubcon in my porn but out of shame I always find myself trying to write around it so there's some contrived loophole that makes it "actually okay", like "maybe the bottom is secretly in control the whole time"!
And then it stops being hot. I fucking hate internet puritans for ruining this for me.

My response would be “I’m not going to write that, but you can if you want.”

I think this is an excellent response.

They're just inspird by the situation - I mean, it's not my preferred "pillow talk" post PWP to wonder what happens later or what the emotional ramifications might be (I mean, I don't wonder after a porno whether the plumber ever did get around to fixing the pipes or whether the insurance paid or whatever) but some people like to imagine that in the post-reading afterglow equivalent. The might just be thinking out loud, not necessarily really asking for an answer/sequel. With questions like that I just think "yay, created porn real enough that they think there's something behind the curtain" and that's great.

/then again, some people ARE just that blind to clues that stuff isn't going to be continued. If I had a nickle for every time someone "subcribed" to fic of mine clearly marked "complete" or asks "when is there goign to be an update?" then... yeah. In those cases, yeah... that's just the readerly equivalent of the kid that doesn't quite understand why the icecream is portioned and they can't just have more more more all the time.

+1

MTE. It's still strange for sure, I agree, but they're probably just just fans of the way you write OP, and want your input for their own little imaginings or they're just excited about it and that's just the first place their mind goes.

I LOL'd at this XD.

Yeah, I have one too. I could tell she's not neurotypical bec she told me the character shouldn't have brought his sentient bird up to the tower to enjoy the view before her wing was healed. "She might jump! I was worried during the whole scene!"

I tend to just ignore those commenters bec they can't help their brains.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
9/10, making your ableism sound logical and compassionate.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
She's basically imprinted herself to me like a baby bird, hitting each story and spewing long screeds of comments that are, to put it mildly, insulting and off topic. So yeah, I'm being compassionate by responding in a way that ignores her atypical brain. I'm being very compassionate because I find it intrusive and insulting, what she's saying about my stories, but I don't respond negatively.

Thanks for noticing.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
9/10, using your compassionate fake niceness to her to justify speaking about her with unnecessarily ableist language on anon internet sites. You are a saint, truly.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear, you are one of those "NAT folk can never ever be annoying and the rest of you should just accept whatever they dish out" people. Like a colleague who said sexual harrassment "wasn't the perpetrator's fault, because autism". And don't try to tell me those aren't points on a sliding scale.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
This. Not all neurodivergent people are high-functioning. There are people from all over the spectrum in fandom spaces. They all deserve compassion and respect, but sometimes their behavior just takes away the fun from fannish activities.

I used to have an ask blog that I loved very much, up until some neurodivergent fan started spamming me with questions that were all nearly-identical and always about the same topic that they obviously had a special interest in. They'd send 5 of these asks every day. I eventually asked them to not send more than one per day and they complied, because they're not an asshole, but the end result is still that I have to think of a new and exciting way to answer the exact same question every singe day, which feels like a shore. Between working fulltime, and doing houseshores, I really don't want to spend the precious little free time I have for fandom activities on doing something that feels like I'm just doing more work. I don't blame them for their behavior, because I know they can't control their brain and aren't breaking any rules, but they took something that used to bring me joy and made it unpleasant for me.

I'm neurodivergent myself, but even if I wasn't, no one deserves to have the fun sucked out of their hobby only because someone else had the misfortune of being born with a brain, that doesn't let them fit in. And I'm in that much of a better situation, that if I started to ignore their asks completely, no one would know except for me and them. But I imagine that it's extremely awkward for fanfic writers to answer everyone's comments except for one person's, so they probably feel pressured to continue interacting with someone they don't enjoy interacting with. It's really a no-win situation.

They kind of are. You've ever heard the saying "the worst thing about not being neurotypical is everyone expects you to behave as if you are"? A lot of people in fandom who have autism reblog it a lot. So when a non-neurotypical person does something to annoy you, you can either expect them to act neurotypical, which is bad, or you can vent your frustration in a place away from their eyes. If there's a third option that isn't "suffer in silence for my personal comfort!" do tell us.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
My first thought when I saw this in the original comment (and someone else said something similar in that thread) was that it's their passive-aggressive way of disapproving of what you write.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Not OP, but I'm curious if it might even be a way for them to justify liking problematic content if they get some kind of assurance that some sort of justice or whatever happens afterwards.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-25 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hah - y'know, sometimes I'll read a bit of non-con or dub-con that hits me wrong and upsets me, and you know what I do? I go off an imagine an alternative ending to the story where the person who's been assaulted escapes or gets revenge or something like that. I certainly don't ask the author if they're going to write it! Who does that?

I think it's their incredibly unsubtle way of asking you to write more, though really - they are kinda silly to do so.

You fic sounds fun, though. :D
