I don't mind the SJ part of fandom in theory. In practice, it is absolutely a thing that certain political viewpoints that are mostly uncontroversial IRL will get you ostracised in fandom. And for communities that are fundamentally about things that 90% of the time are apolitical, the social pressure to perform politically can get cloying.

And basically cause worse of a reaction. Yes, that's exactly my concern as well as why I believe those things would be better off kept apart.

If you think that in principle it is acceptable that some political viewpoints justify social ostracism, then I don't see why IRL political views should be the determining factor in which social views merit ostracism online. The social views that dominate IRL are simply those that happen to be widely held.

(If you don't think it's acceptable in principle for some political viewpoints to justify social ostracism, well, one, I don't believe you, and two, whether views are acceptable IRL is even less relevant, since the content of the views doesn't matter at all at that point)
