I have read a lot of books in my lifetime. As such, I think I have a vaguely instinctive feel for story structure and flow. Perhaps moreso than average. It has not however given me the tools to diagnose the problems with my own writing. I think if you take an interest in writing and want to improve then you will find this info and slowly learn (as I'm trying to do). But for fanfic that is supposed to be a fun hobby, I think it's a bit much to expect people to HAVE to find this info out. Especially as they might not even realise there's a problem in the first place.
