Fictional writing needs to have structure, but not necessarily the structure in this image. Honestly, it's like saying that having sex has to happen in only one way that looks like every heterosexual fuck video out there. One thing I love about fanfic is that I get to read stuff that doesn't use this particular structure. (You can't find that in published fiction because of the rigidity about what a plot is supposed to look like.)
