He really is. I'm not sure it's even a sexual attraction thing, he's just beautiful to me the way a sunset is beautiful...

AYRT Yes that's exactly it. He really was the perfect choice for LWJ - the man whose smile was like sunlight on snow.

I confess I can't bear to watch him or Xiao Zhan in anything else because of how much I loved the Untamed.

I know what you mean. I was really reluctant to watch any other drama Yibo was in, because I had such a difficult time picturing him as anyone other than LWJ. But I'm glad to say that he's very good in the modern dramas I've seen him in, too. Still heartbreakingly beautiful, but in a different way. And... it's nice to see him in wider range of less restrained emotion, including comedic stuff, which he does well.

AYRT Hmmm, maybe I will give some of his other stuff a try then. :)

I was worried about that too. But with Gank Your Heart in particular, WYB's character is so tremendously different from LWJ in body language and facial expression (plus we get to hear his actual voice) that I do not mix them up at all.

I've watched a few of XZ's other stuff, which has all been costume drama stuff, and we really got the best of him in The Untamed, but that's more due to the script differences (to put it politely). CQL gave him something to work with and we got a gem out of it.

That's such a shame for XZ, because he's great as WWX in Untamed.

Also, thanks for sharing your take on Gank your heart out. Maybe I will give it a try. :)

The modern setting helps a lot, too. I thought I'd have a much harder time seeing him as other characters, especially in an esports plot that doesn't appeal to me, but I really enjoyed this.

In comparison, I've only seen XZ in Battle Through the Heavens and his role is much smaller... and his character disappears fairly early on and doesn't come back? I'm assuming XZ had other filming commitments. But to be fair, it's hard to top a role like Wei Wuxian, and he was perfect for it.

I think XZ does great with what he's given in the other roles but they are definitely not as well written. :D

I've just started watching BTtH, apparently he does come back in ep 49? I'm mostly just watching. As in gazing at the screen enjoying the scenery when he's there and zoning out when he's not. heh

O!ME was ridiculous but fun. Jade Dynasty was fine for that genre, but it's not really my fave type of story.

Hopefully we'll get to see Oath of Love soon and see XZ in a modern role. :D
