Not saying I'm a fan or anything, but I'm pretty sure bestiality is not only less controversial but also something you'd expect to find on a kink meme. To me, it's gross and mind-boggling, but the reaction to it would be more along the line of, "Jesus, people get off to anything these days," as opposed to, "Jesus, how could anyone think putting that prompt there would be a good idea?"

Really, it's not a big deal that people in a fandom with some manner of focus on history are writing fanfic exploring some of the tragedies in the past. That's also something I'd expect. I just wouldn't want such fic to turn up on a kink meme, and personally I would prefer pairings and romance to stay clear out. Whatever the real intention, there's a time and place for stories like that, and this ain't it.

Oh, I don't know. What if I wrote something like 'the victim continues to scream loudly after having his throat thoroughly slashed'?

Really, a better counterexample is right there in the original secret. Is the OP claiming that in order to write about the experience of pregnancy with accuracy, I got to get out there and get myself knocked up? ...wait, I see what this is about. This secret is actually an anti-abstinence campaign for teenagers, isn't it?

There's a difference between "slept with Jesse's girlfriend" and "punches women." No way a John Wayne-loving southern boy like Jesse was ever going to forgive that.

It's just fandom secrets, who the hell cares?

125. The only sylar ship I have is with Noah because they were awesome and if there was any fic (;.;) woobie-fying would be somewhat harder. But I do wish fandom wasn't quite so keen on him in every possible combination.

136. I find Hetalia kind of creepy even without the kink. Sure, comics and fandom can deal with big, nasty issues, but I'm not sure that's how to go about it.

164. I'm not sure that they would hate you for disliking her, since the world seems to have a hate-on for Kiera Knightly. If you don't think she's a great actor, fine. Unreasonably skinny standard of beauty? fine. But the random bitching and massive hate for someone you've never met and who hasn't actually done or said anything to deserve it pisses me off. It's just so pointless.

what I meant by b) and d) is that yes it is for children, the Sabriel trilogy is for children/teenagers, but obviously both have thematic elements that go beyond just simple storytelling. And I hate the fact that most of that just wasn't present in the movie adaption, though obviously it would be hard to cram it all in the time they have, and they need to make money, so its understandable.

I just don't want to see it done to Sabriel, but at least maybe it'll get more kids to read it.

Rumour is that Garth Nix himself is co-writing the script. I'd be pretty happy if it stays the way it is, but I'm holding out for the event where the movie blows all other book adaptations out of the water. It will be amazing super awesome.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that the creation of a KINK MEME in any fandom is like an automatic countdown doomsday device for said fandom's inevitable slow and painful demise into a cesspool of toxic anonymous waste matter, I'm not sure if the good stuff that comes out of it is worth it, frankly.

And now, I grieve for all the fandoms I have loved and lost and will likely continue to lose. :(
