Oh... Really? I thought it sounded farcical, for the pairing I'm writing anyway. Like the two options being presented would result in wildly different and ridiculous results lol.

well, not knowing the pairing it's entirely possible that it's totally wrong, you would know better than I. but as a general turn of phrase, don't knock it if it works for the pair. or the situation. sometimes we all just want indulgent pulp fiction and phrases that would be ridiculous out of context are perfectly fine within it.
