Re: Poll (just because)
(Anonymous) 2020-08-09 11:57 am (UTC)(link)Yes, judgmental, because like the person above me said, there's this connotation that "making love" is superior to just having sex, and that you have to not only be ~in love~ with the person you're having sex with, you have to have a very specific type of sex (which the person above described very well), otherwise you're Doing It Wrong.
Tbh it sounds like you're the one with internalised misogyny.
What, specifically, did I say that makes you think that?
Re: Poll (just because)
(Anonymous) 2020-08-09 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)To me they're just neutral terms used to describe different styles of sex for want of a better term. The fact that you read so much into it negatively makes me think you have issues.
Re: Poll (just because)
(Anonymous) 2020-08-09 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)For the third time now, I'm saying I'm only going by my own experience. And my experience (in the bible belt surrounded by Christians with very traditional, old-fashioned views on sex), the type of people who use the term "making love" are also the same people that have those judgemental, narrow-minded views. The people that judge women for having casual sex rather than husbands they can "make love" with.
To me they're just neutral terms used to describe different styles of sex for want of a better term. The fact that you read so much into it negatively makes me think you have issues.
And the key words there are "to me". TO YOU, they're neutral terms. To me, they're not, because that's not the type of culture I live in or the experience that I have. It doesn't mean I have issues.
