Crows are scavengers, and I apologies if I'm being too forward, but I image it might just be them eating too much garbage/plastics. Similar to seagulls, (who have turned to rats in place of tourist/unattended food) the lack of populous (aka leftovers/litter) they may just be relying on an unfortunate (possibly poisonous) source of nourishment.

It might sound cruel but I'd advise you not to feed the crows. As scavengers they will learn from previous mistakes. They'll eat anything, but they're smart. They don't need your help, and aiding their population is actually harmful to most other species of birds as they'll often prey on their eggs, and offspring.
