More Fox, Wolf, Big Cat.

Dragons are popular, but not as much as those.

Hyenas (which ... are popular, not unique, nobody thinks they're unique, even the less common hyena species, especially since Haida made them more popular) and other interesting fursona species are awesome (like goats, we don't see enough goats!) but ... yeah, definitely agree on the majority of the furry fandom preferring canids.

honestly thanks for the knowledgable take, I only know from outside looking in. Dragons are probably more a general fandom thing so I would be willing to assume that a dragon protag would cross over more easily with furry fandom in general than a weird bandicoot that doesn't actually speak. either way, I have learned something.
