Honestly, when looking through many different recipies across the internet this was the major brand most people mentioned, even when they specifically didn't show the brand name, but still photoed the back of the bottle. (I should have realized that, much like the joke about adjusting recipes like they were written by a midwestern housewife who thinks even ketchup is spicy, that the authors of those recipes probably toned down their palate for their target audience) I completely agree that it's over priced though, for sure.

Personally, I live in a small town and don't have much options. The only other curry paste I have available in my area is the Blue Dragon brand which I'm allergic too, so I didn't feel comfortable reccing something I've never tried. With the online mentions I thought it was a safe bet, but I'll definitely be looking for the brands the anon's above mentioned on my next shopping trip!
