It's sad that such a sad tragedy as the VT shootings introduced me to him.

I was so excited when I found this picture.

I'd been familiar with him since I was in school, but I didn't start really watching him until the Sago Mine Disaster. :(

I love that photo. And he's so nice in person too. I got to go to one of his book signings. It was really lovely.

Lucky you! He seems like a such sweet, honest person. Did you have a conversation with him?

A very brief one. The bookstore people were pushing us all through really quickly.

I told him my name, which he asked me about because I got the book signed for my sister, so her name was on the little Post-It in the book.

I explained that it was for my sister, that we're both fans, but that I wanted to get this for her because we were reading his father's book on families together.

He asked where we got it, because it is out-of-print and hard to find. I told him that we'd gotten it from an academic library and that my sister is a teacher.

He said not to steal it... There was a fan in Chicago who tried to get him to sign a copy of his father's book that she had stolen from a library.

I said, "Well... I don't know. It is signed." It was autographed by his father, the copy we had. And he laughed, which made my day. Then I promised not to steal it and I was shoved out the door.

He shook my hand. That was lovely. :)

I have yet to read a story where he wasn't nice to a fan, and I hope I never do to be honest.

I love his little personal attacks against all the things he dislikes and I usually agree with him on all of them.

I've never heard of a story where he wasn't nice to a fan either. He was even really polite to the woman who stole that book, from what I've heard.

I love how he refuses to say Paris Hilton's name out loud. :P

Haha! I don't blame him.

I wonder what he is doing this New Years Eve? Last year was gold.

I wonder too. I saw that Kathy Griffin is practically co-hosting this year.

The girl who posted it actually runs that website. I figured she'd know better than anybody, or someone might get to it first. There are a lot of people from this fandom on my f-list.

I like Kathy Griffin too. It should be good. :)
