I think most people feel the same, OP.

I'm glad you're inspired by her character OP! <3

+1, I'm also disabled and while I think it was a bad move in terms of storytelling - a cool, unique character now has the exact same skillset as the rest of the Bats - I was also pleased for Barbara herself!

Competing representation needs are a thing! Some people want to believe they'll get past their limitations. Some people want to believe they'll learn to live with them.

I haven't been following comics or comics fandom in recent years, but my peripheral understanding is that there was definitely a debate over whether it was appropriate for a character in a world with magic, alien technology, and super-science to still be in a wheelchair because remaining paralyzed means she provides visible representation for people with disabilities and the inspiration/wish fulfillment of having a cool job that matters, but at the same time goes against the internal logic of the fictional universe and fails to follow the path many real people with disabilities would choose were they to have the chance (thus also failing to provide another form of inspiration/wish fulfillment). I never knew what was the best choice for what to do with the character and I still don't. I don't think there is a correct choice.

I'm glad she has meant something to you, though!
