I don't think I'm going to be watching it. I really, really hate bad adaptions, and this one looks like it would just make me mad.

Same.

IIRC, his daughter isn't impressed with it either, she called it "inspired by" rather than an adaptation.

Someone I follow on Twitter went mildly viral expressing their disgust, and Neil Gaiman (who doesn't follow them, they have no connection to Published Author World) turned up in the comments going "I made Good Omens myself so that I knew it would be something Terry would actually recognise."

What the everloving fuck?

(Anonymous) 2020-08-16 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe it, but this is somehow even worse than I was expecting. Everything about that picture is wrong, including the clothing. This just screams lowbudget CW superhero show set in modern times.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-16 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I thought this was. Had absolutely no clue this is supposed to be Discworld.

I'm pretty sure he'd have thought this, too...

(Anonymous) 2020-08-16 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I just can't.

The only bit that tickled me was that instead of finding a redhead lady (a shortage of those in Pratchett) to shoe horn a mixed race actress into, they've rebuilt sybil from tge ground up and dyed her hair red Lmao.

Somehow the very worst thing about this is the idea that these people have consigned the original story and characters to the scrapheap, and apparently think that they can somehow do better than the characters and story Pratchett created. Which I sincerely doubt is true. Asshole.

This looks awful.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-16 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
... Did they even try? Jesus.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-16 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's a knew about Cheery but not the rest...that's awful. Without the names, it's not even recognizable as the Discworld.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-16 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh God.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-16 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The more I hear about this adaptation, the more disappointing (and puzzling) it sounds. :(

It looks like something I'd be at least mildly interested in checking out... but not at all Discworld, and billing it as an adaptation gives a bait and switch feeling that puts me off it.

Wow, yeah. Not going to be watching that *at all*. I didn't think I was, anyway, but this solidly confirms it.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-17 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this is going to be a shit show and I'm very happy no one can actually force me to watch it.

I am emotionally destroyed that this mean's we'll probably never get a *rea* adaptation of the Watch tho.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-17 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh hell no. What is this crap! Didn't even know about this adaption but I'm sure as shit not gonna watch it now.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-17 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
I feel sorry for the actors. It's not their fault the producers are crap.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-17 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yeaah, that's some delicious natto here...

In my head, Vimes was always the image of Aragorn.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-17 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't understand who've they've made this for.

I also don't understand why they couldn't have cast a little person as Cheery.
