And there's at least one series where the CAT is the detective. With, if I remember correctly, a Corgy. And it's not a "talking animals" series.

I loved "The Cat Who..." series, don't know if that's the one you're thinking of. The last couple of books were ghost written and, apparently, not up to par, so I'm glad I didn't read them.
