Christie didn't just make up that title, though - it was a popular children's counting rhyme. Horrifically racist (and in my childhood both the book and the rhyme were "Ten Little Indians" which is only slightly better!) but absolutely a product of the time rather than something terrible Christie was doing.

The original was a counting rhyme, sure, but it wasn't like in 1939 it wasn't known as a pejorative, because it absolutely was.
