Why can't you just say you now have similar tastes and just post what you like anyway? Thats basically what "aesthetics" are, right, like there's beachy aesthetics and gothic aesthetics and country aesthetics and so on, and lots of people are into those things and it's not considered copying at all.

This was my first thought too, but I can totally see how this could be an issue in some fandom communities on tumblr, actually. When I was more active in some of my fandoms on there, I had fandom friends who were super sensitive about the idea of being copied and would react really negatively (even if they had a super common interest) to me unrelatedly liking the same thing. So maybe OP has friends like that? In which case, all I can say is that it was stressful as fuck to be around and I’ve enjoyed fandom a lot more since avoiding people who are so possessive of their interests. I hope OP’s friend is chill about it though; I personally would love if I was getting into something new aesthetically and someone else who already shared that sense of style was my friend! I mean, how cool, right?
