You say there's no better way nonny but there is. Capitalism as an economic system is not as bad when adequately restrained by a government working democratically to impose restrictions. Like you have in Germany and Scandinavia. Not perfectly but a hell of a lot better than the festering shithole that is America.

Ayrt

Not disagreeing that there is a better way, I certainly don't know about how to go implementing it. I do think about slightly more socialist democracies -- but I do not trust the government, this government, which by and large does not care about the welfare of its people. Which actively tries to kill its (certain sectors) people, honestly. Everything is a money grab for people in positions of power. And while on a more local level there are definitely people trying to make a change, there's still corruption, money changing hands, etc.

Why would I entrust you with more power when you have shown me how you abuse what I've already given you? And to this point, I admit it's easy to say "government", but what more is that than a collective of individuals (some elected by the people to represent them and their interests) who only seek out the interests of those who line their pockets?

I also think the narratives of a people's history is very influencial in getting the masses to accept a change. Especially if there is a lack of education, a particular understanding and experience of what freedom is, and any personal experiences that prove that the more control exercised the worse it becomes (and if not personal experiences, then a fear of this -- they all tie together)
