Well... sometimes there's stuff other than S/S. Unfortunately (?), it's always F/K.

Some people write/wrote other things, but frankly, people who write Xfic lately are few and far between, especially if you're looking for quality... and then people like me, who don't write S/S, get stuck on another pairing instead (So/A), and, yeah. Basically, I totally know what you're talking about, and agree it's annoying, but... unless you want to start writing your own and spark a movement worked for subaru/arashi for about three seconds, you're kinda stuck with what there is.

For a long time the fandom used to be pretty elitist about their "right" pairings, but now I think it's too dead to be elitist. I personally love weird/unusual pairings, and X is totally a great fandom for it... there's just not enough people writing fanfic anymore. Those that are... either they're pretty bad, or they also ascribe to the "Subaru is the real hero of X" theory.

112: Hah. I'm with you there. I've been using "Parron" as my internet handle everywhere for years, then it became my IRL nickname... and now I think of myself as "Parron" just as often as my real name.

I have nothing against S/S (and have found some really amazing stuff for them, but for god's sake it's like nothing out there aside from "Sakura and Snow" gets both the Seishirou-Subaru and the Subaru-Kamui dynamics right), but F/K? I have yet to find anything for that pairing that really does them justice, and the het is so ridiculously rare there might as well not be any (though omg I love it; Sorashi and Aoki/Karen are just so ADORABLE, even if shipping the latter makes me feel like a bit of a heel because of Aoki's family and all).

I mean, yeah, I like the canon pairings (which is weird enough, for me), but... I want, say, Kakyou/Hinoto too, dammit. I want Seishirou/Kamui (and Subaru is more than welcome to come along, believe me), and Fuuma/Seishirou, and and and HOKUTO/KOTORI ROMANCE IN THE AFTERLIFE, COME ON, IT'D BE AWESOME AND YOU ALL KNOW IT. The fandom needs moar yuri than poor omg-their-love-is-so-dead Saya/Tohru. *grumble*

Hey, I never said it was *good* S/S or *good* F/K - just that those were your two choices. Personally I'd love to see some Kamui/Keiichi or god forbid Kamui/Yuzuriha--Kamui/Daisuke--you know, what, Kamui/anyone that isn't Fuuma or Subaru, just for the chance, although even Kamui/Subaru would be refreshingly novel at this point. I can also list off about twenty het pairings that would be awesome, but won't get written because they *are* het. Silly fandom.

I tend to like most of the canon/implied pairings - at least in theory (I have trouble getting behind Yuzuriha/Kusanagi as a *mutual* romantic pairing; platonic or one-sided, sure, but I can't see Kusanagi really returning the crush; I don't really like S/S just because ALL THE BAD, BAD FANFIC has made me pretty much hate it out of spite) - but yeah. Good luck *finding* any of them. I tend to like most noncanon pairings, at least in theory - I'm still waiting for Kamui/Arashi which sounds so hilarious in my head, and someone once pointed out the possibility of Karen/Hokuto, which is again, yeah, awesome -- but at this point, I'd happily settle for well-written *canon* pairings, too. Or well written *anything* that isn't about Subaru.

KnK did do some random pairing along the line (while they are very S/S). From the Ashes has a large chunk of K/S as well as Fuuma/Seishirou which I found a brilliant combination. Personally KnK are one of my fav X authors so I would definitely recommend having a look!

I didn't like "From the Ashes" at all (just... alkfhasdjlfkg Subaru. NO NO NO.), and I really don't care for Kouri and Karasu's X fics because of how they characterize Kamui and in particular Subaru's relationship to him. :/
