112) I'm an Amanda. I was born in 1985, a year that 'Amanda' was the second most popular baby name for girls in the country. All my life I have had another Amanda in my class, another Amanda at my job, another Amanda in my swimming lessons/drivers ed/group of friends/whatever.

I got the nickname 'Lady Zip' while writing a story with my friends at the age of 11. I not only now mentally think of myself as 'Zippy', but I answer to my screen name in public and have IRL friends who have been introduced to me as 'Zippy' and do not KNOW my given name.

So don't fret, you're not alone. <3

It's so comforting to hear I'm not alone here. I once had someone introduce me to someone new as "Lucy", then later tell me that they'd forgotten my given name.

I am not alooooone~! ♥

Hehehe! I have some friends I've met who it's too weird to call them by their given names when I got to know them by their screen-names.

One friend goes by Nolan but her real name is Katherine I still call her Nolan even in person because I just can't adjust to 'Kat' after almost seven years of 'Nolan' XD

Amanda was the most popular name of ALL the early 80s, I do believe. :| *another one* I go by Amy, but like you, I have people that don't know my given name, and are shocked when they hear it. "Oh, I thought Amy WAS your name."

Then they ask why I don't go by it and grumblegrumble.

Woe is us, right? Only good thing about my Amanda? I was named after Amanda Blake, the woman who played Miss Kitty on Gunsmoke.
